Welcoming Major Expansion of Mental Health Support in Local Schools

I welcomed a major expansion of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs), set to reach an additional 900,000 pupils this year—including thousands across Redditch and the Villages. By March 2026, six in ten children will have access to in-school support, with full national coverage targeted by 2030.

The teams will provide early intervention, one-to-one and group support and advice for teachers—backed by £680 million in funding and 8,500 new mental health staff.
