I warned of a growing financial void in Redditch following the closure of three credit unions over the past decade. Speaking in a Westminster Hall debate, I highlighted how regulatory pressures and bank closures are pushing vulnerable residents toward high-interest lenders. That’s not financial inclusion—it’s exploitation.
I urged the Government, FCA and PRA to reform outdated rules, ease the burden on smaller credit unions and raise public awareness of their value. I called for urgent action to protect families in Redditch from financial hardship amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
