I called for urgent national action to tackle child and furniture poverty, delivering a speech in Parliament during a debate on giving every child the best start in life.
Drawing on stories from across Redditch and the Villages, I praised new investment in Best Start Family Hubs, expanded free school meals, nursery expansion at Matchborough First School and improved mental health support.
I also raised the issue of furniture poverty, where children go without beds or desks and urged action on school infrastructure—particularly at Ridgeway Secondary.
No child should be denied opportunity because of their postcode.
