I joined senior leaders from the Canal & River Trust to tour key stretches of our local canal network and discuss urgent climate-related challenges including flooding, storm damage and subsidence. Beginning near Impney Way, the visit highlighted the vital role canals play in biodiversity, wellbeing, tourism and heritage.
I backed the Trust’s ‘Perfect Storm’ campaign and welcomed initiatives like ‘Volunteer by Water’ to boost community involvement. I pledged to support investment and environmental protection to ensure local waterways remain safe, accessible and thriving for generations to come.
