Saying Goodbye to a Local Hero

Today, we say goodbye to Philip Jarvis.

Philip was an incredible man, whom I met via the Redditch Royal British Legion. However, it wasn't long until I learned of the intensity of his community involvement, and how many people's lives he reached.

Philip was many things: an organist, an active member of the Redditch History Society, an avid supporter of the local history museum, a driving instructor and an ardent Baggies fan (I'll let him off there!), amongst so much else. He meant so many different things to so many different people.

His father was one of the founders of the RBL in Redditch and I was honoured to bring the Armed Forces Minister Al Carns MP to officially open the Jarvis room at the RBL's permanent home at the Bridley Moor & Batchley Social Club.

Myself and so many others will be forever grateful for the work Philip did to keep the memory of fallen servicemen alive. Redditch has lost a true giant, however he will live in via his name and the magnitude of his contribution.

RIP Philip.
