Reflecting on Vote for Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

I voted in support of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. It was the most difficult and profound decision of my time in Parliament.

Following months of respectful debate, expert advice, and deeply personal conversations with constituents, I concluded that the law must offer greater clarity, compassion, and choice for those facing terminal illness.

I backed key amendments that strengthen safeguards while keeping the bill’s scope focused solely on those with a terminal diagnosis. The legislation now proceeds to the House of Lords for further scrutiny and consideration.
