I recently participated in a Westminster Hall debate to address the issue of furniture poverty, which affects nearly 1,000 children in Redditch. Highlighting the profound impact on families' well-being, I shared personal stories of friends facing furniture insecurity and stressed the need for urgent action. I praised Redditch-based charity NewStarts for providing essential household items to those in need. I called for a radical reform of the welfare system to tackle this chronic problem, ensuring no child has to sleep without a bed. I will continue advocating for greater support for these vital services in the community.
