Pressing Government on Standards in the Private Rented Sector

I pressed ministers in the House of Commons to improve safety and living standards for tenants in the private rented sector. Speaking during Housing Questions, I raised concerns about the number of non-decent rented homes and asked what further action the Government will take as reforms under the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 come into force. Measures include ending Section 21 “no-fault” evictions, banning rental bidding wars and strengthening action on damp and mould. I welcomed plans for a new Decent Homes Standard, saying everyone deserves a safe, warm and secure home in Redditch and the Villages.
