Leading Commons Debate on Diabetes and Sport

I led a House of Commons debate on tackling stigma and breaking barriers for people with diabetes in sport. I shared stories of young athletes excluded from grassroots teams due to misconceptions about the condition and called for better training for coaches, teachers and volunteers to support inclusion. I also praised Worcestershire campaigner Chris Bright, founder of the Diabetes Football Community, for his pioneering work. The debate won cross-party support, with Sports Minister Stephanie Peacock confirming Sport England will research barriers with Diabetes UK and meet with me to drive change.
