Highlighting Importance of Public Libraries and Local Services

I attended a Westminster session hosted by Tom Hayes MP and organised by UNISON, focusing on the importance of public libraries and pressures facing local councils.

Research showed Worcestershire has maintained its library network and increased opening hours by 26% since 2010, despite a 55% reduction in staff over the same period.

Libraries are incredibly valuable community assets that support learning and opportunity. I stressed the need to properly resource councils and welcomed hearing from frontline staff on how local services can continue supporting communities across Redditch and the Villages.
