I demanded urgent action on toxic PFAS after contamination at Redditch’s new Fire and Police hub. In an Environmental Audit Committee debate, I revealed Middle House Lane site is safe but cleanup only contained, not destroyed, the pollutants. I warned the UK lacks technology to eliminate ‘forever chemicals’, calling for investment in destruction methods and tighter restrictions on non-essential use. We contained the problem, but we didn’t solve it. The Government must invest in technology that destroys PFAS for good.
