I spoke in Parliament to defend Personal Independence Payment (PIP) as vital support for disabled people, not an unemployment benefit. During a Westminster Hall debate, I highlighted that disabled households face average extra costs of £1,000 a month and are being hit hardest by the cost of living crisis. Citing figures showing three in four food bank users have a disabled household member, I urged the Government to build a welfare system rooted in compassion, fairness and the founding principles of the welfare state.
