Championing School-Based Nursery Expansion at Matchborough First School

Speaking in Parliament this week, I praised the success of Matchborough First School in transforming unused classrooms into vital nursery spaces, following substantial government investment.

During a recent visit, I saw firsthand how the project—led by headteacher Lynn Briers—is already benefiting local families. I urged Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson to confirm the timeline for the next funding round to support similar projects across Redditch and the Villages.

The Secretary confirmed Labour’s £370 million nursery rollout is moving at pace, helping families save up to £7,500 a year and delivering on childcare pledges the previous Government failed to plan for.
