I backed the introduction of 'Benedict's Law' during National Allergy Awareness Week, joining medical professionals and campaigners at a special House of Commons workshop hosted by the Benedict Blythe Foundation.
The proposed legislation would require all schools to implement mandatory allergy management policies, keep adrenaline auto-injectors on-site and provide compulsory staff training on recognising and responding to anaphylaxis.
No parent should ever face the heartbreak that Helen and her family have endured. With 20% of anaphylaxis reactions happening at school, I urge all schools in Redditch and the Villages to review their allergy policies and ensure staff are equipped to act in emergencies.
