Challenging Energy Giants Over Eye-Watering Profits

I confronted the energy bosses over soaring profits while local manufacturers and households face crippling bills. At a Business and Trade Select Committee hearing, I challenged Offshore Energies UK’s CEO David Whitehouse following BP’s multi-billion-pound profit announcement, highlighting that its effective tax rate dropped by 26%. I argued that Redditch’s proud manufacturing base needs fair energy pricing to stay competitive and protect local jobs. I am pressing for the Modern Industrial Strategy to prioritise domestic employers and consumers over the shareholder gains.
