Celebrating Community Spirit at Winyates Green Allotments Open Day

I joined local councillors and residents at the Winyates Green Allotments Open Day this weekend, celebrating community spirit and the importance of safeguarding local growing spaces. The popular annual event featured stalls selling homegrown produce and chutneys, traditional games and cream teas enjoyed in the sunshine. Visitors also toured the allotments, admiring the wide range of fruit, vegetables and flowers grown by tenants. Allotments are about so much more than growing food – they’re about friendship, wellbeing and pride in our community. I attended alongside Councillors Jen Snape, Juliet Barker-Smith and Jane Spilsbury.
