I attended the Alzheimer’s Society’s recent reception in Parliament, where I supported the call for mandatory dementia training for social care staff. The event highlighted that, despite people with dementia making up 60% of adult social care users, only 29% of the social care workforce has received appropriate training.
Improving training for care staff is crucial to ensure better care for those living with dementia. I am committed to advocating for mandatory, evidence-based training across the sector.
I will continue to work with stakeholders to secure better resources and training for dementia care.
