I visited Hanbury Hall to tour the award-winning Courtyard Kitchen, a RIBA West Midlands Award-winning project that has transformed the visitor experience at the Grade I-listed National Trust estate. The new café blends traditional craftsmanship with modern design, featuring locally sourced materials and improved accessibility. I praised the collaborative effort between the National Trust, Howells architects and RIBA, highlighting the project’s positive impact on community engagement and heritage. Over 260,000 visitors have enjoyed the space this summer, which now hosts expanded family activities and supports the National Trust’s mission to connect people with green spaces and history.
