Highlighting Urgent NHS Dentistry Challenges in Redditch

ree

I visited Webheath Dental Practice to discuss the growing crisis in NHS dentistry impacting Redditch and the Villages. Meeting with Dr Thegan Moodley, I learned about recruitment difficulties, funding shortfalls and long waits of up to 12 months for children’s treatment. Dr Moodley called NHS dental contracts “not fit for purpose,” with many dentists leaving NHS work. I emphasised the need for urgent contract reform, fair funding and improved access, especially for children and vulnerable communities. I committed to convening a roundtable with local dental leaders and the NHS to push for sustainable, preventative dental care.
