Tabling the Schools (Allergy Safety) Bill in Parliament

I recently introduced the Schools (Allergy Safety) Bill which will fill vital safeguarding gaps in the current legislation. This Bill is calling for three things: allergy policies in schools, including personal allergy plans for children with known allergies; training for teachers and staff to manage allergies and know how to treat them if they occur, and the provision of spare AAIs so that if a reaction occurs, staff have both the medication and training to take swift action. When seconds count, this simple step could be lifesaving.
These recommendations come from Coroners' reports after tragic incidents, and from experts in the allergy field. We must learn and fill these gaps to create a fairer, safer school experience for all children.
The Schools (Allergy Safety) Bill's Second Reading has been requested for the next parliamentary session.
It is co-sponsored by MPs from across Parliament, including Tahir Ali MP, Sarah Coombes MP, Cat Eccles MP, Sarah Edwards MP, Amanda Hack MP, Becky Gittins MP, Jodie Gosling MP, Leigh Ingham MP, Alicia Kearns MP, Dave Robertson MP and Gareth Snell MP.
