I called for urgent reforms to prioritise early intervention in mental health care during a Commons debate on the Mental Health Bill: Legislative Scrutiny. Drawing on the example of Wales, I urged the Government to introduce a right to a mental health assessment in England—particularly to support young people before reaching crisis point.
With rising admissions to acute settings, we must act earlier. Community-based care, when accessible, prevents detentions and delivers better outcomes.
I pledge to keep campaigning for a fairer, faster and more preventative mental health system.
